Setup steps
Confirm your Samsung supports eSIM
eSIM is available on Galaxy S21 and newer (S22, S23, S24, S25 series), Z Flip3 and newer, Z Fold3 and newer, and select A-series models (A34 5G, A54 5G). Note: availability varies by region and carrier.
Get your eSIM activation details
Your carrier or eSIM provider will give you a QR code or an activation code. Have it ready before you start.
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager
Open Settings, tap Connections, then tap SIM manager (or "SIM card manager" on older One UI versions).
Tap "Add eSIM"
You'll see your current SIM(s) listed. Tap "Add eSIM" at the bottom.
Scan the QR code
Select "Scan carrier QR code." Point your camera at the QR code provided by your carrier. Alternatively, you can enter the activation code manually by tapping "Enter activation code."
Confirm and activate
Review the plan details and tap Confirm. Your phone will download and install the eSIM profile. This requires an internet connection.
Set your preferred SIM
Once activated, go back to SIM manager to choose which SIM to use for calls, texts, and data. You can switch anytime.
Troubleshooting
"Add eSIM" option is missing
Update your phone to the latest One UI version. Some carrier-locked phones may have eSIM disabled — contact your carrier to unlock it.
eSIM download fails
Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. Try restarting your phone and scanning the QR code again. If the QR code has expired, request a new one from your carrier.
Can I use eSIM and physical SIM together?
Yes! Most Samsung eSIM phones support dual SIM (one physical + one eSIM). The Galaxy S25 series supports two eSIMs.
eSIM works but no mobile data
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager and ensure your eSIM is set as the preferred SIM for mobile data. Also check that data roaming is enabled if you're abroad.
