Setup steps

1

Verify your Pixel supports eSIM

eSIM is supported on Pixel 3, 3a, 4, 4a, 5, 5a, 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8, 8a, 8 Pro, 9, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro Fold. Note: Pixel 3 eSIM support is limited to certain carriers.

2

Get your eSIM QR code or activation details

Your carrier or eSIM provider will supply a QR code or activation code. Have it ready on another device or printed out.

3

Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs

Open Settings, tap "Network & internet," then tap "SIMs" (or "Mobile network" on older Android versions).

4

Tap "Add" or the + button

Tap the + icon or "Add" to add a new SIM. Then select "Download a SIM instead?" or "Use eSIM."

5

Scan the QR code

Your camera will open. Point it at the QR code from your carrier. Alternatively, tap "Need help?" or "Enter code manually" to type in the activation code.

6

Confirm the download

Review the carrier information and tap Confirm/Download. Your Pixel will download and install the eSIM profile.

7

Choose your default SIM

If you have multiple SIMs, the system will ask which to use for calls, texts, and data. You can change this anytime in Settings.

Troubleshooting

"Download a SIM" option doesn't appear

Make sure your Pixel is running the latest Android version. Some carrier-locked Pixels may have eSIM restricted — contact your carrier.

QR code scan fails

Check your internet connection. Try entering the activation code manually instead. Make sure the QR code hasn't expired.

eSIM installed but can't make calls

Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and ensure the eSIM is enabled and set as the preferred line for calls. Restart your phone if needed.

How many eSIMs can I have?

Most Pixels support one physical SIM + one eSIM. Pixel 7 and newer can store multiple eSIM profiles but only one can be active alongside the physical SIM.
